Covid Vaccine on CDC Childhood Schedule – ACTION REQUESTED

BACKGROUND

The final decision whether to mandate the Covid vaccines as a condition of attending school, daycare, or sports lies with each state. Several governors have already stated they will NOT allow the Covid vaccines to be mandated for children in their state. We would like a clear statement from all governors.

On October 21, 2022, members of CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted 15-0 to "recommend" the Covid-19 injections for all U.S. infants, children and teens, beginning at 6 months of age and continuing annually until adulthood. ACIP’s recommendation was formalized by placing the Covid-19 vaccinations on CDC's Childhood Immunization Schedule. Many states consider such action by the CDC to represent a de facto mandate. These states will, accordingly, mandate the Covid vaccines for school and daycare attendance, participation in sports, and other activities -- citing its practice of following CDC vaccination guidance.

However, the ACIP vote and CDC's adoption of Covid-19 mRNA vaccines on the Childhood Schedule serves neither the interest of public health, nor the health of individual children. The data is unequivocal: healthy infants, children and teens are at virtually no risk of hospitalization or death from Covid. The vaccines do not prevent transmission of the virus to others more at risk. The CDC's own data show that approximately 80% of children have already recovered from Covid-19 infection. Covid is now endemic, and as the virus mutates it produces an even milder disease. The vast majority of children (with few exceptions having serious underlying conditions) easily recover from the illness at home, as they would a cold or flu, without serious impacts.

While the risks to infants, children and teens from Covid are extremely low and the vaccines do not prevent transmission, the known risks from the vaccines are significant. Little data exists regarding how the injections might affect long-term immune function, fertility, neurological function, or cardiac issues, such as myocarditis. No data exists regarding whether injecting a Covid-recovered child could compromise that child’s natural immunity, or worse, cause potentially deadly antibody-dependent enhancement, or ADE. As noted, HHS itself has cited the data showing that the majority of children and teens have already had Covid.

Other countries have discontinued all use of the Covid vaccines for children and in some cases for anyone under the age of 50 due to lack of sufficient benefit given the risks from the vaccines. Why is the USA taking such a radical stance?

If there is no clear health benefit for children or society from the CDC action, then who stands to benefit? The public is aware that placing the Covid vaccines on the CDC Childhood Schedule serves to shield vaccine manufacturers from liability for injury or death caused by their products. This legal protection for the pharmaceutical companies extends even to claims by adults who are harmed or killed by the Covid vaccines -- solely by virtue of their being on the Childhood Schedule.

What, then, is the point of this irrational push to put the Covid vaccines on the Childhood Schedule? Covid-19 vaccine uptake by children is now extremely low because parents are increasingly aware of the data laid out here. Any attempt to force Covid vaccines in children of unwilling parents risks further damaging the broken trust parents already have in our national health authorities. Parents, and the public, are still reeling from the failed pandemic policies carried out by HHS agencies (CDC, FDA, NIH), not the least of which were school closures and the promise of a vaccine to stop transmission and allow a return to normalcy.

The CDC action looks like a great deal for pharma and a bad deal for parents and their children. Children face 18 years of mandated annual Covid shots -- a boon for pharma! -- and face untold risks to their health from the cumulative effects of the mRNA shots. ACIP members may well cinch future funding for their own pharma projects as well as lucrative jobs in the private sector for doing pharma's bidding. This is clearly not in the interest of America's children or of public health.
