Hold the 81 Accountable for Voting with Dems on H.R. 7006
Turning Point Action
Take Action Now
To the 81 House Republicans who voted against Rep. Eli Crane's amendment to defund the National Endowment for Democracy (NED):
Your vote to preserve $315 million in funding for the NED raises serious concerns about fiscal responsibility and alignment with America First principles. We believe this decision warrants reconsideration based on the following factors:
The NED has significantly expanded its activities beyond its original Reagan-era mandate. Current operations include involvement in international democracy promotion programs that have contributed to political instability and regime change efforts in various countries.
Available data indicates that a substantial majority of the NED's political contributions have gone to Democratic Party-aligned recipients, raising questions about whether taxpayer dollars are being used in a politically balanced manner.
At a time of significant national debt and budget constraints, allocating $315 million to an organization whose current activities don't align with the needs of American citizens represents a questionable spending priority.
There are legitimate questions about the NED's current operations, including its involvement in activities that may conflict with domestic policy priorities and constitutional principles.
We encourage members of Congress to:
Conduct thorough oversight of NED operations and expenditures
Consider whether this funding level represents the best use of limited taxpayer resources
Ensure that any federally funded organization operates in a non-partisan, transparent manner
We will continue to monitor votes on foreign aid and democracy promotion funding, and we encourage constituents to engage with their representatives on these important fiscal and policy questions.
