Keep Sen. Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee!

You’ve got to hand it to the radical left – these people play for keeps.

Faced with a choice between waiting for one of their stalwarts to recover from an illness, or moving immediately to change the organizational structure of the Senate in an unprecedented maneuver to confirm several radical new federal judges, they’ll take the unprecedented step to get the new judges.

That’s right. The radical left is so determined to remake the federal judiciary into its extremist image that it’s now using an unprecedented maneuver to throw overboard one of its own.

California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein – now 89 years old – is recovering from shingles, and her doctors says she cannot travel back to Washington, DC.

That’s a problem for Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee.

Reflecting the slim 51-49 Democrat majority in the Senate, the party balance on the committee is 11 Democrats to 10 Republicans.

Her absence means that when the Senate Judiciary Committee meets to conduct business, there are only ten Democrats at the table and ten Republicans.

And that’s a problem, because it takes a majority vote to approve a nominee.

For most nominees, that’s not a big deal. They can win a few Republican votes and, with all the Democrats voting in favor, can assemble a majority to be approved.

But some of President Biden’s nominees are so radical, or so unqualified, that no Republican will vote for them. And without Feinstein’s vote in the committee, that means the vote would end in a 10-10 deadlock, and the nomination would not move forward.

That does not serve the radical agenda. Consequently, that simply will not do.

So the Democrats, determined to ram through their radical and unqualified judicial nominees, have a solution – remove Feinstein from the committee and replace her with another Democrat who can be relied upon to cast a vote in favor of Biden’s radical or unqualified nominees.

They say it’s “temporary.” It won’t be. This would be the end of Dianne Feinstein’s career. After a “decent interval,” they’ll pressure her to resign her seat.

Of course, they were kind enough to allow Sen. Feinstein to sign a letter in which she “asks” her party boss, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, to allow her to “temporarily” step aside from the committee so she can be replaced.

What they’re doing to her is shameful. It’s humiliating. It’s disrespectful. It’s wrong.

One more thing – it’s unprecedented. Never before in the history of the Senate has a rank-and-file committee member been “temporarily” removed from a committee in mid-session, simply to make the math work.

Replacing her on the committee, of course, would require a change in the organization of the Senate. That’s a procedure that would require unanimous consent, or, failing that, at least 60 votes.

Senate Democrats’ attempt to replace Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee is just another example of their determination to move their radical agenda, no matter the cost.

When they were stymied in their attempt to federalize all elections and grossly restrict political speech, they implemented the so-called “nuclear option” to try to destroy the filibuster. When they couldn’t get what they wanted out of the Supreme Court, they introduced legislation to pack it.

Now they’re even willing to use an unprecedented maneuver to shove one of their own overboard just so they can put more radical and unqualified judges on the federal bench. Right now.

Call your two U.S. Senators and tell them to vote against the Democrats’ attempt to replace Sen. Feinstein on the Judiciary Committee. Tell them she should stay on the Judiciary Committee, and the Judiciary Committee should simply wait for her to be healthy enough to travel again.
