There is a bill before the Alabama Legislature, SB 171, The Numeracy Act, that is being promoted to stop Common Core Math. The “core instruction” referenced in the bill refers to the “2019 Alabama College and Career Ready Standards” which are Common Core. This bill does nothing to terminate or repeal the use of these failed standards. The bill authorizes $92M to hire 700 "math coaches" not to help struggling students but rather to teach the teachers in grades K-5 how to teach common core math!
